First time we give Owen a bath together!

Today is a monumental day - tonight was the first time Daddy and Mommy gave baby Owen a bath together! Before today, since Owen can take a bath, Grandma Yao had always as the main “washer” with Mommy or Daddy being the “spotter”/helper, but since Grandma Yao went back home on Tuesday, Mommy got promoted toe Grandma’s position with Daddy as the helper. :) Honestly, I was a little anxious about having to be the main “washer” and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to do a good job and even cause Owen to catch a cold, but I was pretty satisfied with my work after some careful inspection. *Smile*

Daddy surprisingly offered to wash Owen’s hair, and did such a great job doing it, including massaging his head! Baby was very happy with Daddy’s performance and kept on squinting because Daddy’s gentle massage was ticklish.  Next time Grandma/Grandpa/Uncle Hong is here, we will ask them to videocam Owen’s cute expressions/actions - they are priceless!

In his own time…

For new parents and parents-to-be, please don’t ever let others - esp your elder relatives - push you into comparing your child with others or forcing your child to do anything! Remind yourself over and over again that every child is an individual and he/she will get there in his/her own time.

I remember when Owen was 7 months, my Mom and Sherwood became really concerned that he couldn’t roll over from front to back.  They would continuously put poor Owen on his tummy…although I agree that Owen does need tummy time, it only needs to be few minutes a day and when he no longer wants to be on his tummy, we should not force him.  I believe what the doctor and books say: every baby will develop mentally, physically, and socially in his/her own time.

Sure enough, without much practice, when he was around 8 months, all of a sudden, he no longer minds being on his tummy anymore.  One day, he just rolled over to his back effortlessly and quickly.  Regardless of this experience, the grandma and Daddy are now pushing him to crawl. *sigh*

Mommy finds favor in Owen’s eyes again

My sweetie baby angel forgave me and I’m back on top of his list again. :) On Friday, when I came home, baby was sitting in his stroller - when he saw me, he first had a huge grin.  When I didn’t come straight to him, but turned the other way to put the milk in the fridge, he started protesting.  I hurried over to pick him up and hug him, and he cuddled and snuggled against me, and rubbed his face against mine and remained glued to my face cheek-to-cheek.  I felt like I was floating because I was so thrilled to be wanted by my son again! *wink*
