Surprise baby shower!

Wow, I’m so tickled…my coworkers threw me a surprise baby shower luncheon filled with gifts, cake, and great food!  I am SO touched by their thoughtfulness and they really got me good as I had no clue of it!

My manager Sharon had asked me to reserve today to eat lunch with my backfill as he starts next week so I was expecting to meet him - yet, when we got to the table, I saw the whole gang there.  THAT was when it hit me - sorry, pregnant people seem to be slow. ;P  The manager from my contracting company - Dawn - was also there, and brought with her 4 boxes of the cutest Baby Gap outfits I have seen that ranged from cool to casual. :) She also got us a very yummy lemon cake from Blue Moon.  Sharon and the group got me a beautiful corsage, an adorable baby photo album, receiving blanket, card filled with blessings, and a much needed $100 Target gift card.  I can only say that God has really blessed with such sweet and thoughtful managers and coworkers and I’m so grateful for all that they did for me today!

License to Labor

Got the ok from my doctor to go into labor today! As of today, I am exactly 3 weeks from my expected delivery date (any birth before 37 weeks of pregnancy is considered pre-term). so I confirmed with the doctor this morning during my weekly appt that Owen is pretty much fully developed by now and would be ok if he was born now.

My stomach still measures 35 cm - doctor said during the last 2-3 weeks, the uterus will remain its size though baby will continue to grow but the amount of water will decrease. Doctor commented though that the baby is just the right size - not too small, not too big.

Although I am already in my 9th month - the month when some says fetal activity will decrease as baby runs out of room to move around - Owen continues his daily karate moves. Now that he’s so big though, whenever he does his moves, I often feel sharp jabs here and there because he will jam his feet or hands into my other organs. We tried both begging and scolding Owen to get him to minimize the jabs, but to no avail. :( This baby has a mind of his own. ;P He’s so cute though cause he seems to hiccup a lot (when his movements are very rhythmic - at first, I thought it was proof that he is a gifted musician!) - usually once a day.
