Owen’s Chinese name: 姚俊为

We kind of put off baby’s Chinese name for a while - we had thought of one but when we shared it with our friends and parents, they didn’t seem to like it too much. :(

However, on Saturday, Owen’s paternal granddaddy (Boo’s daddy) suggested “姚大为”.  According to Daddy, this generation should be the “为” generation; as for “大”, it is because Owen will be the oldest of all the grandsons in this generation.  Boo and I liked “为” but preferred another middle name so we came up with “俊”.  It sounds good and means well: we hope our little angel grows up handsome and achieve great accomplishments (hopefully for the good of mankind). :) Both Boo and I love the name and Daddy and Mommy (on mommy’s side) likes it too.  Hope Boo’s Daddy and Mommy will like it too!

Weiwei’s English name: Owen

In an attempt to find a name that is not so common that our baby would always have to append his last name initial to his first name, we have agreed on naming Weiwei “Owen”.  No, we did not name the baby after the famous actor - though we do indeed like him :) - for whatever reason, it was the name that naturally came to me and I really like (coincidentally, the name also has baby’s grandfather’s name in it - “Wen”).

For the origin and meaning of “Owen”: http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Owen The name is of Welsh origin and means “wellborn, aristocrat, young warrior”.  Our wish for our little angel is that his character will take after his name, and that he will grow up to be a “noble” gentleman.

Weiwei’s travel system - check!

So happy to have another big item crossed off from our list - the travel system! Boo and I did our weekly baby tours in Target and Wal-Mart on Sunday, and found a great deal at Wal-Mart - they were having a clearance on the Graco Vienna Full-Size Travel System (which interestingly we were just “test pushing” at Target), so the system was marked down from $189.86 to $149.99.  The big discount ended once and for all our struggle on whether to buy a convertible or infant car seat…:)

As always, as soon as we got home, Boo got to work on assembling the stroller together.  Being such a handyman, he finished in no time and we had fun taking turns pushing around the travel system and taking pictures. ;P Both of us are really happy with the system and feel that it’s easy to push/manuever as well as fold up; the earthly green is also very pleasing.  As for the stroller and car seat themselves, they feel pretty comfy/cushy and we believe our little Weiwei will be very happy in his new carseat. :)
