Tiantian - boy or girl? To be revealed on March 20th

*Sigh* The doctor’s office called me yesterday informing me that they will no longer be performing ultrasounds on Fridays so I will need to reschedule my Friday March 10th appt.  Although Boo and I now have to wait 10 more days to find out if our little angel is a boy or girl (we think it’s the latter), since I will be further along, all the results will be more conclusive so it’s not all bad. :)

1st doctor’s visit - Tiantian doing great!

Went in for my 1st doctor’s visit yesterday - did not know what to expect.

Wasn’t bad at all - doctor had a little talk with me, informed me that I would have to decide on whether to take the AFP (Alpha-fetoprotein) testing or not since this was my 16th week. I was going to do it but when she told me that there are frequent false positives, I decided against it since I know I would worry too much for the rest of the pregnancy if I got a false positive. Also, the doctor confirmed that they can’t do much anyways except for termination (which is not an option) so why bother? I’m glad that Boo supported my decision. :)

Doctor did a physical exam on me, and also used the Doppler to listen to Tiantian’s heartbeat. I held my breath for a few moments because initially, we didn’t hear anything - it was silent. My heart was in my throat until the doctor moved down further and we heard the pleasant sound - his/her heartbeat was slower this time (160bpm). Doctor says Tiantian sounds great!

I’m confirmed for my 2nd ultrasound at 18th week on March 10th - can’t wait to find out if Tiantian is a girl or boy angel so I can start buying clothes/toys/supplies/wallpaper decorations! ;P

Scientific study on Tiantian’s gender

If you want to know Tiantian is baby or a girl, read on.
we are so eager to know whether tiantian is a boy or girl, so we ventured to pursue some scientific study on this subject.

1. heartbeat test: according to parent’s experience, if the baby’s heartbeat is faster than 150 per min, it is more likely to be a boy… the latest measure we did on Tiantian is 160.

2. chinese lunar calendar test, there is a chart that predicts it is a boy or girl based on the mami’s conceiving age/month… that test predicts Tiantian must be a girl.

3. the baby’s habitat location, usually boy tends to stay at the bottom of the mami’s tummy, our latest heartbeat test found Tiantian likes to stay low, so Tiantian must be a girl..

4. dad-to-be’s weight condition, if I actually gain weight right alone with me, it must be a boy. So far I keep about the same weight (thanks to frenquent travel), so Tiantian must be a boy.

well.. it turns out tiantian is 50-50 to be a girl, hmm, not quite really useful study

Beautiful crib at an incredible price! Very happy parents…

Nei and I hauled a cherry hardwood crib home from Target Sunday night in my little Altima! Wanted to share a testimony of how our Heavenly Father led us to this outrageous deal!

We’ve had our eyes on Simplicity’s Ellis 4-in-1 Convertible Sleep System (product link ).

I came across this beautiful, luxurious-looking crib during a web search and fell in love with it instantly! Nei liked it alot too! It had awesome reviews, especially on its look and sturdiness! Although the price on Target.com was very reasonable ($229.99), because the item was labeled “Web Only”, we thought we would have to pay at least an additional $100+ for the shipping. Nei suggested that we check in store anyways to see if they had it in the store. We were very excited to find the crib on display at the first Target we checked (the one on 15-501) - it was as however, there were none in stock and the store personnel did not know when the next shipment would come in and just asked us to check back frequently.

On our way home, Father moved Nei to suddenly remember that there was another Target near the Southpoint Mall so we stopped by to check again and this time, we were not disappointed! There was 1 box in store so we didn’t waste any time hauling it onto a flatbed and applying for a Target card so I can get an additional 10% off the in-store price of $249.99 - the final price came out to around $240. Nei and I were (more…)

unofficial name given

since we don’t know exactly the baby is a boy or a girl, so we decided to name the baby “Tian-Tian”, which means “Sweet-Sweet” in Chinese…
